About Us

Welcome to Ohio Candle Factory! We are fueled by an enthusiasm for creativity in the upcycling process. We upcycle beer, wine & liquor bottles from local businesses and transform them into high quality soy-coconut candles.

Ohio Candle Factory is deeply rooted in Ohio, supported by local businesses and neighbors.  It is a productive space that creates not only candles, but connections between people, neighbors, and local businesses.  We are always seeking to make new connections so we encourage you to drop us a note if you or your local business have ideas that you would like to share.

Why Soy & Coconut wax?

We are often asked what makes soy or coconut wax different from or better than regular paraffin waxes.

For one, both soy and coconut waxes are derived from plant materials while its counter partner, paraffin wax, is derived from petroleum (a refined gasoline product) that contains carcinogenic substances. These substances may be released into the air while burning. Soy-coconut candles are non-toxic, so they won’t release toxins into the air as they burn.

Soy and coconut are both natural, renewable resources and are biodegradable.

They have a longer burn-time because of its cooler burning temperature so the soy-coconut candles, while sometimes more expensive than common paraffin candles, will last longer and is a better value in the long run.

Soy-coconut wax burns cleaner with little soot released. Paraffin candles often create a significant amount of black soot that collects on the jar, as well as on your walls and other surfaces of your home. The soy-coconut candle may accumulate some black soot on the jar, but the amount is much less than paraffin candles.

The combination of soy and coconut wax makes for a clean-burning, natural and superior candle! As far as sustainability goes, it is far greater to most candle waxes. The oil is obtained through a natural process and the wax burns slowly and cleanly while filling up the room with fragrance.
